We are pleased to inform you that the Deshpande Fellowship Program is now receiving applications for tenth batch. Deshpande fellowship program was begun in order to empower a major untapped resource in the development field:hungry young people with plenty of potential to go for in their field who are held back only by their skills and self- confidence. DFP seeks change that and help participate to realize the true potential and ambitions.

This rigorous 7½  month residential leadership development program, Through NGOs visits, village studies, entrepreneurial and Leadership activities and intensive course work, fellows gain skills needed to become true leaders in their chosen field.  

With a concentration on social entrepreneurship and innovation, the DFP has transformed over 200 fellows into entrepreneurial young leaders.

What makes MSE program special?  With an aim to demystify social entrepreneurship for young and creative minds this residential program is carefully designed from a practitioner’s perspective. MSE is hosted by Deshpande Center for Social entrepreneurship (DCSE) that has been a breeding ground of several start-ups, an international network of enterprises and concrete partnerships with over 100 for profits and not –for profits who all are engaged in solving social issues with a compassionate heart and entrepreneurial mind set.

Two year program is packaged with 25 different courses that blend with cutting edge practical experience as well as personal mentorship through real entrepreneurs.




Our international experience in US and Canada where Deshpande Centers been launched in renowned universities with a sole objective to make “learning relevant and responsive to real time challenges” and embark on an even more ambitious aim to help students not just ‘learn’ about entrepreneurship but find the inspirations and tools of becoming an entrepreneur themselves. Who should join MSE?  Graduates in any field who are looking to step into creating or managing a social enterprise themselves. People who are passionate about social issues but still possess an entrepreneurial acumen to venture into innovative and yet sustainable initiatives. We are pleased to share that being located DCSE MSE program brings an added advantage of possibility of getting incubated in our Entrepreneur in Residence program, an incubation centre where several other start-ups will accompany you as you chart the journey of developing a small idea into a big impact. Ankesh Jain works as a Business Development Manager in Simulation Quality Technologies Pvt Ltd (SQUTECH), which is a leading engineering services company and provides solutions in the design and validation phase of the product life cycle for automotive and aerospace industries.

Dr. Hema is a Dentist. She intends to interact with people from different fields and work on some projects for the development of the Hubli – Dharwad Region. She believe's that pollution, drinking water contamination, tobacco and chewing gutka habits are some of the major problems in the cities.

Bhushan and Gauri are Dentists. They believe in making the best use of the available resources and knowledge so as to bring a social change in this region. They both want to actively involve themselves in creating awareness in the health sector as well as share their experiences regarding the same. They also want to try to minimize the social disparities. They are of the opinion that an interaction with people from varied sectors will broaden their horizons in solving social problems.

Chetan is a Dentist. He intends to make a collective effort, to tackle some of the crucial issues, by joining hands with likeminded youth in Hubli- Dharwad. He believes that the collective energy of positive youth itself could be a “big force” to bring about a change. He is a recipient of many awards and honors. He has several international paper presentations to his credit. And has been a guest faculty to many institutions. Currently he is also a faculty at Sibar Dental College, Guntur.

Deepali is a Proprietor. She has taught at several institutions and is the pioneer in developing North Karnataka's first e-commerce site. She has facilitated many firms to manage their accounts, billing and other management processes as well. Apart from this, she has designed and developed over 200 sites since 2001, including the prestigious sites of HDMC, Hubli-Dharwad police. and NWKRTC to name a few. She plays a key role in promoting the traditional art of “Ksauti” online. This has enhanced the employment opportunity in this region. She intends to contribute in the area of web related activities, especially in e-commerce and e-promotions.

Dhiren is a company's Director. He has 18 years of work experience and believes that this would help to contribute in uplifting the set backs of the region. He says that the current biggest challenge is the lack of infrastructure. He has wide range of interests, from reading and trekking to food and rubber processing industries.

Karthik is a CA and has a sound background in finance. He is of the opinion that due to lack of good industries, Hubli is loosing its local talent to bigger cities like Bangalore. However, he believes that with the right combination of talent, infrastructure and governmental interventions, Hubli could take the big leap and become the next destination for all future undertakings.

Karuna is a counselor and holds an MS (Counseling and Psychotherapy). She wants to uproot and eradicate the problem of addiction. She feels that it is a great opportunity to be associated with the right kind of people in order to bring about a positive change in the city.

Medha is a Lawyer. She is interested in contributing in the legal area, in whatever way possible. According to her the biggest challenge in this region is the state of infrastructure, especially the congested roads. She also wishes to make people aware of the “Techno-Crimes” such as cyber crimes, which indeed are looming over this region.

Nikhil is a Businessman. He is keenly interested in the welfare of the city and wants to engage himself in a better cause. He finds this as a great opportunity to convert many of his thoughts into actions, as well as have an interaction with like minded people and share their views and knowledge.

Pallavi is a Proprietor. She joined “Hubli Champions” to understand the real problems faced by the people in this region, and try to bring out amicable solutions for the same.
Also this gives her an opportunity to know the positives and negatives of her city well. She feels that the major challenge for the city's progress is the lack of political support in highlighting the “Hubli-Dharwad” region. This could attract larger companies to move there and boost employment opportunities.

Sasi Sekar is an Executive Director. He has an intention to understand Hubli in depth, as well as manage and plan some Hubli Champions activities. He believes that people here have a different mindset and it would be exciting to work in this region.

Hemal is a General Manager. He wants to make a difference, how ever small, but a significant one. He also wants to engage himself in group activities, in order to bring about a change to all the people of this region. He feels that the greatest challenge is the absence of general awareness and lack of civic sense among common people.
