Hubli Champions have given introduction about the program through skit. It was fantastic which is presented by Champions during the Development dialogue.
Dr. Chetan Jayade:
We are connecting alumni of the Champions program to other organizations’ advisory groups. Organizations include Agastya International Foundation, Bhageerath, Akshaya Patra Foundation, AME Foundation, SCOPE, Chinyard, RAPID, TIDE and The Deshpande Foundation.
It is very beneficial for the Champions to build their knowledge and skills, and contribute to NGOs.
Dr. Chetan Jayade and Mr Rajanikant Ladhad will be working at The Deshpande Foundation with the Champions program. Let’s see some changes in the program from them. Dr. Chetan and Mr. Rajanikant are amazing initiators; we look forward to working with them.
Introduction, Dr. Chetan Jayade:
Chetan is a Dentist. He intends to make a collective effort, to tackle some of the crucial issues, by joining hands with likeminded youth in Hubli- Dharwad. He believes that the collective energy of positive youth itself could be a “big force” to bring about a change.
He is a recipient of many awards and honors. He has several international paper presentations to his credit. And has been a guest faculty to many institutions. Currently he is also a faculty at Sibar Dental College, Guntur.
Mr.Rajanikant Ladhad:

Mr.Rajanikant is the Director of Krishna Spinners. He is keenly interested in the welfare of the city and wants to engage himself in a better cause. He intends to make people aware of traffic rules, behavior and cleanliness.
Champions Program:
Ms. Medha is going to work at Agastya International Foundation. It is helpful for her to learn more about science. She feels children are nation builders and therefore legal awareness is very important. Medha Pawar is a powerful woman; she wants children to become strong leaders.
Medha is a lawyer. She is interested in contributing in the legal area, in whatever way possible. According to her the biggest challenge in this region is the state of infrastructure, especially the congested roads. She also wishes to make people aware of the “Techno-Crimes” such as cyber crimes, which indeed are looming over this region.
About Agastya:
Agastya International Foundation is a Bangalore-based education trust that seeks to transform and stimulate the thinking of rural children and teachers. Agastya does this by bringing hands-on science education to rural Government schools spread across the southern Indian states of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, through the use of outreach programs such as the “Science on Wheels” (Mobile Lab Program) and Mega Science fairs. Agastya's stated vision is to build a creative India of ‘tinkerers, solution-seekers and creators’ that are ‘humane, anchored and connected’ by inspiring widespread social development, innovation and leadership through education.
Celebration of Independence Day at Deshpande Foundation

Best motivating lines…waiting to win is common to all, but working to win is the style of a Champion, so always be a part of Champion program.
The Champions Participated in Independence Day
The 1st Batch of Hubli Champions successfully completed one grand year. So they were celebrated their grand success in the Swarna Garden on 17th of July through get together party with the 2nd batch of Hubli Champions.
“Hubli Champions” galloped into their second month of operation in July 2009! The Champions gathered at DCSE on the morning of 26th July, 2009 to hear the Director of DCSE, Mr. Naveen Jha, deliver an introductory note on public health, medical entrepreneurship and explain two models that exemplify these concepts.
Following an engaging discussion at DCSE, the Champions visited three sites in the health sector. Below you will find more information on each of the sites we visited.
1. Bhageerath:
The team of “Hubli Champions” went to a village called Shivhalli to study Bhageerath's work. They saw a bio-gas unit, which runs the kitchen waste from Anganwadis. The Champions learned about the Eco-Sanitation Toilets, Bhageerath constructed in the village. As well as other steps the Panchayat took to improve health in their village. Shivhalli Panchayat's extensive work has earned them the “Nirmal Grama Puraskar" award.
2. Toxics Link:
Next the Champions visited Navanagar’s Hospital, in Hubli and a hopsital in Dharwad, which is under the guidance of “Toxics Link.” They observed the hospital's unique waste management processes.
3. Visit to KHPT:
As their day's adventure neared an end, the Champions visited the KHPT office and learned about different HIV/AIDS related awareness programs and different approaches to educate the masses on HIV/AIDS. One such approach is the “Peer Education Model,” which has been very effective in spreading awareness of HIV/AIDS.
After the site visits, the members met at DCSE to debrief on their day and participate in interactive sessions with industry experts, who addressed the Champions doubts and queries. Mr. Ravindra of Grama Shikshana Foundation, spoke about oral health and the negative effects of smoking and chewing tobacco. Then, Dr. Gajanan from KHPT discussed different aspects of HIV/AIDS awareness.
During the 2nd month, the Champions also engaged in a social project by organizing their resources to contribute books to the Akshara Foundation.

“Agastya Foundation” works for the grassroots education. It has it`s mobile lab set up currently at the “Indira Gandhi Glass House”, Hubli. This is a very unique science lab, where in many of the school level science experiments are conducted with utmost ease. The lab is so well designed, that it facilitates children to visualise the solar system and phenomenons like eclipse in a more practical and fun way.

Apart from this, there are many more interesting and fun ways of learning science in Agastya`s mobile lab. If you ever happen to come across any of the Agastya`s lab, then definitely make a short trip to one. It is worthwhile.
