CHINYARD:
Group A: We visited CHINYARD, which is located in Anchatageri, 8 km from Hubli. With some introduction and discussion on the project, champions saw the different handworks done by the village women like Kasuti, Kamal work, embroidery, basket making and food products like roti. After, the team had a brief meeting for half an hour with the people on the project benefits, numbers of beneficiaries and SHGs. Champions cross verified their way of managing accounts, involvement towards the work, and discussed about problems.
Group B: We visited CHINYARD, which is located in Chinnapora. In that organization, they discussed about training for women of tailoring. Through this discussion, we came to knew that the women are good in stitching but not in marketing or communication. They need a path for production regarding this, and we gave suggestions to them. After that we went from CHINYARD to TIDE for understanding their activities in livelihood.
RAPID:
After this we began with their next site visit to RAPID and were greeted with a presentation by Director Mrs. Vani Purohit. RAPID (Rehabilitative Assistance for People in Distress) is a organization which rehabilitates divorced, deserted, widowed and disabled women in Dharwad district. We suggested that they start some more projects like stitching shirts. All Champions are happy that RAPID is creating economic, social and cultural opportunities for women in distress through skill development, employment and counseling.
TIDE
This organization works on smokeless stoves. It gives training on the use and construction of smokeless stoves to 5 eligible members from a village. These trainees then go on to give awareness about smokeless stoves and work to build them in their village. By building the stoves in the homes of other villages, the trainees are able to generate income for themselves. TIDE has so far trained 35 females.
